WORK ON YOUR WEAKNESSES

I’ve always hated Yoga, ever since I was introduced to it a couple years ago.  I felt like it didn’t work and I was too impatient to hold the poses for too long…and then the next day came.  I knew it worked - I could hardly move.  Since then I’ve always resisted my “Yoga Days” and to be honest I haven’t hit the yoga mat in about 6 months.  It’s too easy for me to tell myself “I’ll just lift weights or run a couple miles.”

So today, with the sun shinning bright and spring like weather here in Chicago I was tempted to go run outside (this was my ‘almost certain’ future).  Instead I created a different way of being  - I decided to roll out my yoga mat and join in on a 2 hour class.  Flexibility, strength, and balance all rolled into one.  This is my weakness - not being able to just breath and be present, I’m always pushing, always lifting, always chasing.

I invite you to work on your weaknesses.  It doesn’t have to be in the gym it’s a state of mind when you look at yourself and challenge your old ways into new possibilities.  It could look like writing a comedy instead of a drama, writing a song with a new instrument, or trying something new in a relationship (get off the couch).  When we work on our weaknesses we become stronger, balanced, and focused.  Start today, even if it is just doing a couple downward/upward dogs.

BE LIKE WATER,

Duane

PS.  I farted like 12 times in class…it’s all good - it’s not about looking/smelling good.
